Safeguarding at The Tab

At The Tab Church London, Safeguarding means the action we take to provide a safe and secure environment, and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults.

The Tab has robust policies, procedures and referring guidelines in place to ensure good practice. The Tab have created an environment where everyone feels able to disclose abuse. We will respond promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation and respond to all those that may pose a present risk to others.

The Tab wants everyone to know they are valued and to safely enjoy and have access to every aspect of the life of our church. Pastoral care will be offered to victims/survivors of abuse and to those who are the subjects of concern or allegations of abuse.

The Tab will ensure safe recruitment practice and support all those within The Tab with any responsibilities for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We acknowledge that Lewisham Local Authority Designated Officers have the responsibility for dealing with all allegations and concerns about people working with children, whether paid or voluntary workers, lay or ordained.

The Tab recognise that Children’s Social Care has the responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about a child, and that Adult Social Care do the same for adults at risk.

The Tab recognises that ‘safeguarding is everyone’s business’. The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend the Tab, and are involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church.
