I’ve been foolish for many years, on the outside looking in. I’m now part of the “E” tribe. Fortunately, a friend reffered me to the Tab four months ago and it’s transformed me. I am now reading the Bible daily for the very first time, starting with Genesis. In tandem with what i’m learning from Pastor Mike and the guest ministers every Sunday. The Proverbs challenge came at the perfect time for me. I’m listening, learning and gaining wisdom. I believe that I am now more wise than I am foolish. I pray daily and I now feel God’s presence. I am working on improving all of me so I can be a better person, enlarge and recieve my blessings. I can’t thank you enough. May God continue to guide and encourage you. You are doing great work!
Proverbs was one of the first books I consumed when I gave my life to the Lord many years ago, but this 31 Day Proverbs Challenge led by Senior Pastor Mike White has been groundbreaking! It has brought clarity and correction to how I study and apply the information I receive through Proverbs.
The fact that Proverbs is for practical life application in all areas of our lives, helps me study differently and challenge myself using it as a tool for transformation, navigation and discernment. Praying more regularly and having that time for alignment, awareness and reflection has boosted the level of my anticipation to new levels in terms of how I cannot wait to communicate with and just sit with God and be still and listen to Him.
Also having dialogue with brothers who are on this journey has been superb, hearing the perspective of others. I am committed to selecting one verse that I will adopt and live throughout the rest of this year.
A massive thank you to my Pastor, Pastor Mike White for leading us as men in this phenomenal challenge. Love you sir and appreciate your time and sacrifice for us all. This is life changing.
Really grateful for this Proverbs challenge. It’s been more than teaching it’s been formation. God has been highlighting character, discipline, and the power of wise counsel in shaping everyday decisions. Thankful for the honesty, consistency, and brotherhood here. Let’s keep applying what we’re learning.
It’s been so good to be part of the Proverbs 31 Challenge. So much wisdom received from the teachings of Pastor and the panelists as well. It’s been amazing to see the intentionality and consistency of the brothers in the church in getting together and growing.
One thing I want to ensure is that my soil is fertile and constantly watered to ensure that the wisdom isn’t just on a notepad but can be noticed to have been applied in my life.
This challenge has truly been a blessing, in 2023 I completely ruptured the tendon in my knee and unfortunately I haven’t been able to play football ever since.The doctor and physio team that dealt with my surgery made a huge error and left my knee in a locked brace. Due to this my knee wasn’t bending beyond 30 degrees. I was told I wasn’t likely going to exceed 90 degrees by God grace I managed to do this in 2024. However last year I was plagued with disappointments, and setbacks and found myself in a depressive state, not feeling good enough, and lacking in confidence. The proverbs 31 day challenge has encouraged me to get back in the gym and most importantly I have actually made the effort to come into church which I have struggled to do for years. I am always in tune with God but that has been one area I have struggled with. Really grateful for this community.
Thanks for that encouraging testimony Emmanuel, great to hear youve been able to make it to the physical Gym & the spiritual Gym (church) although both are good the spiritual Gym is vital. Hoping you experience full recovery bro.

Proverbs 21:23. This definitely matches up with what Pastor Mike spoke about with mouth and mood management. Sometimes i would be too quick to speak in situations that ends up having me feel awful later and having to apologise. Like a rudder on a ship can control a large boat knowing when and how to speak in an evolving generation like our one is very important.
Proverbs 10:26 “Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes”.
This spoke to me because I’ve encountered issues with my work ethic in every job since leaving University. I always plan the time, work hard preparing for interviews (although leave it to last minute) and I’m grateful God has blessed me with a job at the end of it all. However, after a short while I get comfortable, find the work tedious and gradually over time I lose my discipline, focus and work ethic. Try to get away with the bare minimum. Then I run into trouble with work, start to get micro-managed by my line manager and eventually leave the job on a sour note. Rinse and repeat this cycle for the past 10 years.
This leads into Proverbs 16:2 which Pastor Mike discussed this evening. On each occasion this happened I convinced myself that I was never the problem. However, I wasn’t being honest, reflecting and looking at my own actions. Wanted to blame others rather than hold myself accountable. God knew I didn’t want to face the uncomfortable truth and accept the consequences of my own actions.
Tonight’s session was powerful, revelatory and incredibly insightful. Thank you!
Proverbs 19:8 He who gets wisdom loves his soul, He who keeps understanding will find good.
This for me awaken and confirmed the attributes I needed to hear, such as mindfulness, handling my emotions, harmony etc, and my need to pursue wisdom to enhance my journey in Christ, and stay on the right path that satisfies my soul.
14:23 All hard work brings a profit but mere talk leads only to poverty. ~~ As a business owner who has struggled to get some aspects right, this reminds me of how many times I could explain my ideas well to others but in terms of execution I would find difficulty. Talking about your ideas is easy but true belief is combining faith and action, stopping excuses and getting my tasks completed. I had a side thought, God plants the idea but it is me who must trust in the idea and act on it, imagine Noah just went around telling everyone he was going to build an ark and didn’t put in the work.
Proverbs 20 verse 3 says,
“It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.”
It’s saying, a wise honourable person, will avoid getting into arguments and fights.
They will often give up their right, in order to do the right thing and maintain peace.
The enemy will try to make you feel that, you’re weak to walk away from confrontation, but a wise person knows it shows great strength to exercise self-control.
On the other hand, a fool is quick to quarrel and get into fights because, the feel that they have to prove to others that they are something, that they are not, they believe they have to win a argument or fight, even if they are in the wrong, we call this wrong and strong.
A fool will listen to the enemy when he tells them that, it shows weakness to choose peace over war.
“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 18:20-21 NKJV
This Scripture in particular made me ponder about the importance of the content of one’s Mind,Spirit and heart, which is very important because from that well flows either a blessing or curse, pursuit or procrastination
“What fills your mind and spirit fills your mouth which in turn can bless you or curse you ! Be wise and prudent of what you fill your mind with”
Proverbs Chapter 15 Vs 9 confirmed something I often say which is “I am not a Christian because I’m expecting a prize at the end but purely because I believe in doing what is morally right and the Bible helps keeps me on course”
Proverbs 19 verse 14. Houses and Wealth are inherited from parents BUT a prudent wife is from the lord. This verse itself had me almost in tears looking at my wife basking in the gift god has blessed me with. I look back at my life and she came into it at a critical point when i felt like my life was imploding (death of my mom). God gave me a wife before i made her my wife. God used my wife to get me back to church in search of HIM!
Today’s session was very profound!!
Proverbs 12:11
“Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.”
This verse hit me hard.
I realized how much of my life and business has been shaped by focus: or the lack of it.
I’ve learned that when I stay planted in what God has entrusted to me, when I nurture it patiently and consistently, it grows.
I see the reward of diligence and stewardship.
I’ve also noticed how easy it is to get distracted by every shiny opportunity, chasing what looks fast but doesn’t last.
That only drains energy and blurs vision.
I want my life and business to reflect discipline, wisdom, and discernment; the kind that comes from knowing who I am in God and trusting the process.
Bread doesn’t come from rushing; it comes from cultivating what’s already yours.

Proverbs 18:9
One who slacks in his work is brother to one who destroys.
This is a self reminder to always, no matter what I do, give 100%. At work, at home, with everything. Slacking leads to foolish ways/decisions which have stern consequences so its better to keep at it and trust in the Lord 110%
“the purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water. But a man of understanding will draw it out” (Proverbs 20:5)
the motives of the heart can be deep, and even the person him/her self may not fully understand it. We may need take time to, think over and pray about those things we ponder in our heart. It would be good to seek wise, godly counsel in these matters. 1Cor 2:11-13.
Proverbs 20:12 - “Ears that hear and eyes that see – the Lord has made them both.“ For this verse I think about the times that Jesus mentions “whoever has ears, let them hear”. Not only has the Lord made all of us with eyes to seek Jesus and ears to hear His voice, but He also made us so we can seek wisdom and knowledge. This isn’t just talking about being able to see and hear the noise of the world, but being able to seek the Lord as He calls us by name.
proverbs 18:13
“To answer before listening-that is folly and shame”
this shouted at me “Listen to understand not listen to reply” and that has been a downfall for me throughout the years.
as Pastor said today Wisdom is also in what you dont say and knowing when to speak and A wise person speaks because he has something to say, a foolish person speaks because they have to say something and that use to be me the foolish person.
Proverbs 19:16 (CEV) Obey the Lord’s teachings and you will live – disobey and you will die”
This scripture stood out to me as I believe it encapsulates everything Proverbs stands for. It also means a lot to me personally as when I came back to church I vehemently told myself that this time I am going to walk this walk with intentionality and truth, and not just ‘play church’ and be the christian I thougth would win me popularity. James 1:22 is my mantra but after this Proverb challenge, so too is Proverbs 19:16. God and His will above everything!
Proverbs 19:11 AMPC
When i first read the scripture i was like yh i’ve got good sense i dont get angry but whilst meditating on this the holy spirit reminded me that anger can be externalised and/or internalised. It took me on a bit of a journey of moments i was offended and internalised anger but didnt know what i was feeling.
I closed this off with a prayer of awareness and revelation so i can see the depth of the pattern.
Proverbs 15:20,32-33.
The principle that Wisdom requires obedience, loyalty and self sacrifice before you see reward; Folly offer a immediate gratification but is ultimately poison.
“When people live good, honest lives, their children are blessed”. Proverbs 20:7 ERV.
Our decisions do not only impact us, but they can impact our children as well as those who look up to us.
Proverbs 18:16
“A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.”
This verse just reminds me that it’s not just about blessing others as God blesses you. Sometimes just be generous and be a blessing in itself (don’t wait to receive your blessing first), for this changes your hearts posture.
Proverbs 19:2 says “Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes” this scripture has stuck with me because I’m a person that’s always moving fast and often times I move so fast that I make dumb mistakes or decisions. I realise that when I’m met with that fork in the road of which way to go that I would make a lot more good choices if I just stop and pray before I react.
Day 21.. Proverbs 21v1.. Teaches us the king’s heart is in the hand of God and the Lord turns or channels it in the way it go. I learned God is in control and has the final say.
Chapter 19:21
Too often I’ve tried to do my own thing off emotion, irrationality, and what I thought was logical thinking, but when my steps are already ordered by the lord it’s impossible for me to have success in anything off my own back.
Confiding and consulting God is where the true successful plans are at
Proverbs 19:8 NLT
To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.
Committing to this process to take the steps to do the work, so that God can do His perfect work in me! I’m a project and a person who’s under His divine construction!
An inheritance claimed too soon will not be blessed- Proverbs 20:21
Proverbs 18:13 To answer before listening— that is folly and shame.
Made me reflect on how I should be speaking
My vers is Proverbs 17:27
“A man of knowledge restrains his words”
This phrase showed me the value of wisdom and self-control in speech.

Proverbs 16:32
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
What an amazing session tonight – so many powerful nuggets from both Pastor Mike and the elder/ministers who contributed, as well as the gold in the chat.
I’d like to share what I learned over the last few days from Proverbs 9.
There are a few similarities between Wisdom and Folly.
The Bible says that they’re both ‘women’ (Proverbs 9:1 and Proverbs 9:13).
Also, they are both loud, calling out to the simple; the phrases they use are identical (Proverbs 9:4 and Proverbs 9:16).
Did you notice that they’re both seated in the highest point in the city? (Proverbs 9:3 and Proverbs 9:14)
What this means to me is that you’ll find Wisdom sometimes where you’ll find Folly/foolishness. However, the difference is what they call out.
V. 17 seems a lot more enticing (like the fast food that Pastor described) and v. 5 less so. Minister Ira said last week that wisdom isn’t always what you want to hear, but it’s sometimes what you need to hear. This is what this chapter makes me think. It’s almost like Folly is fast food and Wisdom is vegetables. You need them, but they’re not as ‘sexy’ as fast food.
Interestingly, also (to me), in the book of Daniel, when Daniel and his friends ate vegetables instead of the King’s rich food, the reward was that they were wiser than everyone else.
As we continue to fast, may our wisdom continue to be multiplied towards us in this unique season.

Prov 14 Vs 30 really stands out for me today.
If a patient has high blood pressure, the patient can cut down on sodium. They can cut down on other excesses such as sugar or cholesterol. But there is one thing that drs cannot control in patients, and that is their patients’ stress levels.
I personally believe that the physical root cause of many medical conditions today is stress. Stress can produce all kinds of imbalances in your body. It can cause you to age prematurely, give you rashes, cause gastric pains, and even lead to abnormal growths in your body.
To put it succinctly, stress kills! Doctors tell us that certain physical symptoms are “psychosomatic” in nature. That’s because these symptoms are brought about by psychological problems such as stress. Stress is not from God. Peace is from Him!
I trust that you are beginning to understand why Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
So cast your cares on the lord for he cares for you. 1st pet 5v7.
Let’s not get angry quickly and lose our peace, jealousy is like a cancer to our bones.

Day 8 – Proverbs chapter 8
Love the fact that we were just talking yesterday about the four types of people, and I was describing myself as the fool and the simple one, and then today’s chapter (verse 5) was speaking directly to me.
Verses 12-21 tell us the characteristics of wisdom. It is describing herself and telling us what we gain if we “chase” her.
Last night’s session was excellent and gave me a lot to think about. What spoke to me the strongest was what Pastor Mike shared almost immediately, as we started.
He said that Proverbs is about being skilful in life, not just spiritual.
I can think of many times in my life when I’ve focused on being spiritual and missed being skilful, or, even worse, used the spiritual as a substitute for being skilful and then wondered why things didn’t work out.
One of the things that has spoken to me the most since we’ve started is in Proverbs chapter 1. We see that Wisdom cries out, but also, if we don’t respond when she cries out, then when we cry out, she won’t respond. It seems to me that there’s a specific season to tune into wisdom and to hear what God is saying, so that it’s stored up for when we need it later in the year.
May God bless us in this season and help us to receive, digest and fully understand what He’s saying to us in this unique time.

I loved the guidance shared this evening by Pastor Mike helping us understand the four types of person Proverbs speaks to, who wrote/contributed to proverbs and the practical purpose of it. I would love to have a longer session if at all possible and am extremely grateful for your time Pastor, it is precious. Looking forward to the results of application of the information we are receiving in our lives as men.
Day 7 – Proverbs 7:25 stuck with me helping me understand more about what “ways” I should not let my heart turn aside to as identified in the immoral woman.
Examples:
Unfaithful, erratic, unpredictable, unstable, not grounded, discontented, undisciplined (verses 11-12)
Prioritises connection and convenience over covenant (verses 18 & 19)
Ticks religious boxes “paid vows, peace offerings” verse 14 but lives for self; an opportunist at the expense of others (verse 26).
Arouses only the senses to do what is wrong (verses 10-13, 16 and 17), but never stirs up/encourages what is right.
The ways that I identified are not limited to a woman but even to people in general. As the day went by, I began to think more about this verse at a personal level and search myself. I can observe ways in others to not stray towards, but I have ways too! Time to study myself. What are my ways? Patterns? What needs to change to be more the man God has called me to be?
Wow, Wisdom Wednesday was a great session of teaching, and discussion with our Pastor. Insightful and challenging on a personal level. Proverbs is not just about wisdom, but about self examination and life skills to apply.

The Wednesday evening discussion with Pastor is excellent. Pastor asked at the end, to comment if we would like it to be longer. I could have carried on for much longer, but I am retired and live on my own, so I haven’t got the commitments like other brothers, but yes would have been great to have a longer session.
